Chancellor Carmen Fariña opens the doors of Tweed Courthouse once again! 

You are invited to attend the Fall Parent Conferences. These free, grade-specific, and informative events were created to support parents and to help them have an impact on their child's education, both in school and at home. There will be free breakfast, free childcare (for kids 4 and older), and plenty of giveaways.

The 2015 NYS English Language Learner Parent Conference in New York City is being held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at New York University. This event is sponsored by NYSED OBE&WL, NYS Statewide Language RBERN at NYU, and the NYS/NYC RBERN at Fordham University.

A Message From the Principal . . .

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It was truly a pleasure to see so many of you at our Meet and Greet on September 17th.  For those of you who are new to our school, a warm welcome to our PS 94 family!

Your involvement in your child’s education is very important to us. You can assist us in providing the best opportunity for your child’s success by:
  • Ensuring your child is in school everyday.
  • Arriving on time everyday.
  • Remaining in school for the entire day!
  • Students dressing for SUCCESS!! We are a UNIFORM CAMPUS:
    • Kindergarten - 3rd Grade: White or Navy top
    • 4th and 5th Grade: Navy or Maroon top
    • ALL GRADES: Blue bottom, Navy Blue Sweater
    • For Gym All Grades: Navy blue sweatpants, and white top or navy blue sweatshirt.
  • Check that your child does their homework every night
  • Ensure that your child has their school supplies.
  • Ensure that they have breakfast everyday. It is free at school. (Served: Monday-Friday 7:15am - 7:45am, both buildings)
  • Ensure that they go to bed EARLY to get a good night’s sleep!
  • Keep your child’s teacher informed of any changes in family circumstances that may impact your child’s success at school.
  • If your child wears glasses, they must wear them everyday!
  • Attend our Parent workshops, special events, and conferences as much as possible
  • FORMS to be filled out at the start of the school year! Please be sure to fill them out and send them in as soon as possible.  You will be receiving these over the next several days:
  • Early Release: Students WILL NOT be released after 1:30pm for early pick-up.  If you MUST pick up your child early you must arrive prior to 1:00pm.  If your child has not copied their homework, they will have to make it up the next day. Students will not be released during an activity taking place outside of their classroom. (Please make every effort to schedule appointments after-school and during holiday breaks.)
  • Contact Information:  It is critical that we maintain current phone numbers and addresses for all of our students.  If your contact information changes- please come to the main office to update the information.
  • Health Issues: If your child has an on-going medical condition such as asthma, or diabetes, etc., please make an appointment with our nurse so that we are best able to support your child.
  • Allergies: If your child has any type of allergy please be sure to inform your child’s teacher, our administrative staff and the school nurse.
  • School Trip Permission Slips: When you receive these, please be sure to fill them out and send them back PRIOR to the date of the trip so that the teacher may plan accordingly.   Under NO circumstances will we accept VERBAL permission over the phone, or FAXED in permission slips the day of the trip.
  • PARENT COMMUNICATION FOLDER: Your child will bring this folder home EVERY DAY. Please be sure to check it for notices from the school.
  • SCHOOL MESSENGER: We use an automated phone system to send messages. You will receive these messages throughout the year.

How Can I Help My Child Be Successful in School

1. Read EVERYDAY!  You can read to your child or have your child read to you . . . either way . . . READ!

2. Create a consistent after school routine.  Help your child study and complete their homework.

3. Be POSITIVE!  Always speak positively about school and learning.

4. Encourage! Give your child the opportunity to excel in all areas of their academics.

5. Be sure that your child is getting plenty of rest each night and is ready for school each day.

6. Teach your child to be responsible for their actions and to take pride in all they do!

7. Stay INVOLVED! Make it a point to ask your child about their day.

8. Communicate . . . Please know that you can contact PS 94 with any questions or concerns.
