What We Do
PS 94 counselors are committed to the academic, career, and social/emotional development of our students.
School Counselors:
School Counselors work to build a healthy mind-set and positive behavior standards in each young scholar in the PS 94 community. We achieve our goal by directly, and indirectly, providing our students with activities and services that are developmentally appropriate.
Direct Services
When working with children, directly, school counselors provide: instruction; evaluation and recommendations; and counseling, both individual and group.
The team also provides professional assistance and support during times of transition from one activity or subject to another; during periods of heightened stress; critical change; through other situations hindering student success.
Indirect Services
When supporting children, indirectly, school counselors: consult and collaborate with adults, such as: parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and community partners. To determine the best ways to support our students, school counselors also assess data such as: attendance, discipline, and grades.
